Become a Peer Mentor
Rare disease can be a lonely and isolating experience. However, it doesn’t have to be. Having a mentor who has a shared lived experience and understands the unique burden of PFIC provides a special kind of support that can help empower patients, families and caregivers to feel ready to tackle the challenges of living with the disease. Become a Peer Mentor and share your experience to help others on their PFIC journey.
A Mentor can be a:
- Role Model
- Sounding board for new ideas
- Person to talk with
- Connection to help access available resources
Navigating the complex web of doctors and insurance companies while caring for a sick child or experiencing chronic illness can be overwhelming and isolating. Even if your family and friends are loving and supportive, they don’t always quite understand. Being able to talk with someone who has been there and knows exactly what you are going through can be extremely helpful.
